In a short time span, Inherit has positioned itself to become one of the leading players in the nascent but fast-growing carbon removal industry. We are in the process of executing on a first-of-a-kind project: capturing CO2 from wastewater treatment and storing it deep underground.
Our revenue comes from clients such as Microsoft and Nordea, who pay us to remove CO2 from the atmosphere on their behalf. Our clients are our best ambassadors and partners, and the Head of Sales will lead our work to onboard new equally amazing customers. It is a relationship-heavy sales effort, so the ideal candidate is patient, yet eager to obtain results.
We are a small team with ambitious goals. Commercial savviness is an important part of our growth journey going forward and we are looking for the right person to head our sales function.
About the role
You won't be working alone or starting from scratch. We are a close-knit team that has already achieved commercial success by onboarding several customers, including Microsoft. Your task will be to take our commercial success to the next level, as well as being a key member of the executive team. You will be expected to contribute to the corporate strategy of the company, and you will be facing the board, investors, clients and other stakeholders on a regular basis. You will also be involved in negotiations with industrial partners, fundraising, finance of assets and all the other exciting things that startups are facing.
In large part, your main responsibility is ensuring a go-to-market strategy and execution of the strategy, which involves a lot of client research and interaction. This includes, but is not limited to:
Identifying client segments to target (clients can be anything from large energy companies, big tech, to the bakery around the corner).
Identifying partners we collaborate with to sell (inc. banks, commodity traders and sales platforms).
Identifying how to sell (inc. the story).
Pricing strategy.
How do we generate leads (marketing, conferences, network, etc.).
Marketing.
Engage in thought leadership and education.
Contribute to building a company with a sales mindset.
Who you are
We are open to many different backgrounds, and below are some examples of where you may come from:
B2B sales/sales leadership and the ability to thrive under the uncertainty of a nascent market (no - we do not yet have a playbook).
Commercial experience from a carbon removal company.
Brokerage/trading/investment banking.
Previous finance/CFO role, who wishes to move in a more commercial direction.
Management consulting.
Commercial experience/BD experience from companies within the energy/ESG space.
